| I
have boats for those of you who told me you were coming. I would
prefer the Den Leaders set up time to come see me and distribute
from there. I will collect any funds at the Regatta.
This is a
pitch in. Please bring a dish to share. I would ask that peanut
and tree nut free items. Westfield Washington Schools is working
on this and we should too. Yes, my daughter is affected but so
are others in our pack families. Please bring your own plates,
silverware and drinks for your family. We will be grilling hot
dogs as usual. Dogs, buns, ketchup and mustard will be provided.
Bring a swimsuit
and towel. Quaker Park has a water play area and it is great to
cool off the kids.
Bring lawn
chairs. We have over 100 persons registered so seating will be
at a premium. We usually need the tables for food and boat staging.
We start grilling
at 1:30. Please do not be late. Racing will start at 2:30 sharp.

Ideas
for Your Boat from a Website I found…
Try
to keep the bottom as flat as possible; that is as close to the
original flat bottom as possible.
It is not how hard you blow but how straight you blow that makes
the difference.
The bottom edge of the sail needed to be about 1/2 inch above
the deck of the boat. If the sail was too low the corners rubbed
against the gutter or dipped in the water. If the sail was too
high the boat was top heavy and tended to tip over.
The boats sailed best if they were balanced with more weight to
the rear. This elevated the bow of the boat, and when they were
blown, they ran almost even.
The keels needed to be placed about 3/4 of an inch behind the
mast. Don't follow the instructions in the kit.
The rudder should be placed touching the keel.
Use "Krylon" spray paint -- it dries in about one minute
on the balsa wood hulls.
