Entry Categories
Race categories will be determined after cars are checked in.
Usually the categories are by age or scout rank. All scouts are
encouraged to enter a car. Parents and siblings are welcomed to
make and enter their own car in the Open Class race, but are asked
to pay for their own car kit.
Entry Rules
Except for the Open Class, all cars must be newly made this year
by a Scout. Parents are encouraged to give guidance and help as
needed, but the boys should do as much of the work as possible.
Open Class cars must meet the same construction requirements as
Scout cars but may be from a previous year. Only one Open Class
entry per person, please. Click
Here for The Official Rules.
Car Construction
Please read and follow the directions for car building that are
included with each kit. All rules will be strictly followed. Remember
- Each car must be made from the official kit provided.
Some of the "store bought" kits do not have legal axles
or meet all of the proper specifications and will not be allowed.
The Car Cutting Day on December 29th, from 1:00pm
- 4:00pm, is an opportunity for anyone who may want help in cutting
out the rough shape of their car. Weights and example cars will
be available at this time. Bring any questions that you may have
and we'll be happy to help. If you want to draw your design to

Check-in and Race Day
All cars will be checked-in and left with the race committee one
week before the race. So, make sure your all done! Check-in Day
is January 5, at the Hester's home (4214
Shine Court, Setter's Run addition) from l:00 pm 4:00 pm.
If you are unable to be at check-in, then you must get your car
to your den leader or someone who can get it to check-in for you
or make prior arrangements. A repair table with tools will be
available at check-in to make adjustments if required. Cars will
be returned on race day after racing is complete.
Design categories and awards
There will be voting on race day and awards for the Most Colorful
Car, Best Crafted Car, Most Unusual Car, Best Painted Car, and
Most Authentic Car. The race committee will also award the Judge's
Choice Award. So remember - speed isn't everything. Craftsmanship
is just as important. Although, trophies will still be presented
to the fastest cars in each category.
