NOTES (continued on back):
Please do NOT bring electronic gadgets such as radios, i-pods or games to camp. Knives are NOT allowed; this is new and was stressed by the council for this year. Knives will be confIscated and returned to the parents/guardian upon return to Carey Ridge.

Many of the activities your son will participate in at Adventure Camp will help them earn Webelos Activity Badges. First year - Aquanaut, Craftsman, Naturalist and Outdoors man Badges, Webelos Camper. Second yr - Forester and Readyman Badges & Firelight. Both First and Second Year Webelos will be able to work towards their World Conservation Badge and a number of activity Pins and Belt Loops as the schedule permits. The pack's attending leaders will keep track of this information.

No fIreworks of any kind are permitted at camp.

Food will be provided & prepared by the camp staff; which all meals will be served in the Dinning Hall. Scouts will rotate through assignments as "hoppers", who are responsible for setting tables, serving food, drinks, clearing plates & utensils, & cleaning tables. Mess kits will not be needed. Evening meals are required formal scouting wear (scout shirt, neckerchief & slide).

Webelos will stay in a canvas wall tent with cots on wooden platforms to keep the boys off the ground. Two boys will share a tent & each Pack will camp in the same campsite; which may be shared with another Pack. Adults can only sleep with their son. If your son is extremely afraid of insects, alternate tentage will have to be supplied by yourself or other means; which is discouraged due to space limitations. The camp is not responsible / liable for damages to personal tents.

Each campsite has a shelter, picnic tables, outdoor latrine, lantern & flagpole. There is a shower house next to the pool facilities & also in the pool facilities; which is separate for boys, men & women.

The camp program will be conducted rain or shine by the camp staff. The Pack's attending leaders will provide adult supervision. There are several shelters throughout camp & the staff is prepared to deliver programs during inclement weather.

Please ensure your son packs weather appropriate clothing & comfortable shoes. There will be plenty of walking; which hiking boots should not be necessary. Shoes must be worn in camp at all times (except when swimming). No sandals or open toe shoes & extra shoes are recommended.

Firecrafter is an honor Scout camping organization. 151 yr scouts may earn the Camper Award & 2nd yr scouts may earn the Firelight Award; which can only be earned while at Adventure Camp & culminates in a mystical trail called "Spark of Interest". Firecrafter awards will be purchased by the Pack.

The final evening of camp (Wednesday) ends with a Fireceafter ceremony & campfire. Families are encouraged to attend!! If you plan to join the pack for this meal or any other meal during the week we ask that you pre-pay $5.00 per person, regardless of age, and the meals you are planning to attend prior to our departure. There are no add on meals once we arrive at camp.

Each scout will receive a patch for attending summer camp. There is a trading post in camp; which contains camp T-Shirts, snacks, drinks, scout gear & souvenirs that can be purchased. The Council will provide us a list of items available and their cost prior to our departure if you want to plan on specific items.

While it is not recommended, if you need to take your son out of camp, then you must sign your son out (and back in when or if you return) at the camp office. Whoever is planning to take your son out must be listed on the health form.

Health forms should have already been turned in & if you have not yet submitted your son's health form please ensure that you bring a completed form the first day of camp prior from department from Carey Ridge. Indiana law requires that all medications be turned in to the camp health officer, so the camp can control & dispense them. The medication should be in it's original container placed in a zip lock bag with the scouts name, pack# & specified dosage instructions (ie - time of day dosage, how many, etc..) & labeled on the front of the bag.

Time sensitive medications such as Epi- pens, inhalers and insulin may remain with the child, but must be listed on the health form.

Also, any dietary restrictions need to be brought to my attention 2 weeks prior to camp, so we can plan accordingly.

If your son experiences behavioral issues, please ensure the attending camp leaders are aware of your son's specific situation & are provided with instructions on how to handle any issues while at camp. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated; while the adult leaders do their best to address issues for resolution there may be circumstances in which the parent/guardian will need to be contacted to assist in the matter & or requested to come pick up their son.
